Seller agreement
Last updated October 20, 2026
These are the rules for selling on Hatch Makers ("Hatch"). By setting up payouts or listing a piece, you agree to them, along with the Terms of Service.
Who can sell
- You must be at least 18 and live in the US. Stripe requires this for payouts.
- You sell only things you make yourself, or design and finish by hand. No reselling, dropshipping or mass-produced goods.
- Photos and descriptions must show the real piece and be your own.
What you can't sell
- Products made for children under 12 (US law requires lab testing for these).
- Cosmetics, skincare, food, drinks or supplements, for now.
- Weapons, drugs, anything illegal, and anything Stripe doesn't allow.
- Anything that copies someone else's design, brand or trademark.
You're the seller
- Buyers pay you directly through your own Stripe account. You're responsible for your own taxes, and Stripe sends you a 1099-K when required.
- Decide on each order within 7 days, or it cancels on its own.
- Ship approved orders within 5 business days, with tracking, and add the tracking number in your dashboard.
- Write your return policy in your profile and honor it. If a piece arrives broken or never arrives, make it right with a replacement or refund.
- Disputes and chargebacks come out of your Stripe account. Shipping with tracking is your best protection.
Fees
Stripe charges its card processing fee on each sale. Hatch may also take a percentage of each sale. Founding makers pay no Hatch fee for now, and we'll tell you at least 30 days before any Hatch fee starts or changes.
Once you add a ship-from address, buyers pay the USPS price for their address and that shipping money goes to Hatch, which buys your label when you approve the order. Stripe's card fee is charged on the whole order, shipping included.
Buyer information
Use buyers' names, emails and addresses only to fill their orders. Don't add them to your own mailing lists or share them.
Removing a shop
You can close your shop at any time. We may hide or remove a shop that breaks these rules, gets repeated complaints or disputes, or puts buyers at risk. Where we can, we'll tell you why first and give you a chance to fix it.
Your content
You keep ownership of your photos and descriptions, and let Hatch show them on the site, in emails and when promoting Hatch.
